My Clark Kent job swamped me last week.
So here are some quick updates.
Sunday
FEU vs. UE
Feisty game. FEU would go up big early on. UE would fight back. Elmer Espiruto got an elbow special from Aldrich Ramos. UE's wily veteran would return later after the bleeding subsided and the cut was stitched up.
UE made a heroic stand but it felt all too late from where I was watching. FEU continues to exhibit a propensity to relax when up big.
ADMU vs. DLSU
Most folks were expecting a blowout as the age old rivals seemed to be going in different directions. The Eagles had only lost team leader Chris Tiu but retained the core of their championship team of 08. The archers lost stars Rico Maierhofer and JV Casio.
I told my dad that all that didn't matter. ADMU vs DLSU was always a closely fought game. Rare would be the game between the two that would end in a blow out. And this would prove to be true.
La Salle would lead most of the way. Ateneo would find its groove late in the third quarter. Joshua "Spider" Webb would give a herculean effort only to ruin his career game by kicking Bacon Austria. That kick would give Ateneo its first taste of the lead since the first quarter.
Ateneo star center Rabeh Al-Hussaini would tweak his ankle. The game went to overtime with a Hyram Bagatsing 3. And it was all Ateneo from there.
Kudos to DLSU for the supreme effort.
Thursday
DLSU vs. ADU
After a close four point loss to bitter rival Ateneo, the Green Archers would seem out of it against Adamson. The Falcons would lead most of the way. Then they would let DLSU back in the final minute of the game. But the Archers would have no more gas in their tank and would lose to the Falcons.
ADMU vs. UE
UE would play without big man Pari Llagas due to a suspension incurred in their last game. Without the UE bigman Rabeh Al-Hussaini would have a feast day scoring 30 points. As is UE's wont these past few play dates they would let Ateneo lead big only to try and catch up in the last 2 minutes. Once more their comeback would not last.
